Congratulations to Dr Ehsan Vaghefi on being awarded an HRC Explorer grant for $150,000 for his work on an Optical Laser Biometry (OLB). This technology, developed at SOVS, is currently going through the patenting process. OLB combines two laser-based imaging techniques with a platform for visualizing resulting data and represents a new cost effective means of analysing the structure of the human eye. The OLB has the potential to replace several ophthalmic imaging modalities and so enable affordable vision-care delivery in remote or lower socio-economic communities.
