Congratulations to Manuela Bossi for successfully defending her PhD in London last week! Many of you will know Manuela who has twice visited the school from Professor Steven Dakin’s former lab at the University College London.
Manuela’s research is concerned with developing new methods to treat amblyopia (‘lazy-eye’).
Her treatment – based on having children spend one hour a day watching special “binocular” movies – has proven effective at improving children’s vision. The treatment is currently undergoing a phase II clinical trial in the UK and is described here.
