Earlier in the year, PhD student Wilson Pan was awarded a Claude McCarthy Fellowship to undertake original work or research in medicine.
Wilson used this opportunity to attend the ARVO conference in Vancouver in May, followed by spending time at the Stony Brook University lab in New York where he is working on a project to use ultra-high field pre-clinical MRI to investigate the physiological optics of genetically modified mice.
Wilson has returned from this visit excited by the initial results of the study. He is keen to continue working with Professor Paul Donaldson’s Molecular Vision Lab, collaborating with Stony Brook’s lab, to work towards understanding cataracts better.
