The New Zealand Indian Central Youth Association proudly hosted its inaugural Careers Expo in July 2024. We were honoured to be invited to represent optometry as a career option for young people exploring their future pathways.

The optometry profession was represented by Professional Teaching Fellow Bhavna Patel and Part IV student Jaishree Patel from the School of Optometry & Vision Science, and Jas Walia, an optometrist from Auckland Eye. The event took place at the Mahatma Gandhi Centre in Auckland and attracted approximately 450 attendees.

It was a fantastic opportunity for these young individuals to meet professionals from various fields, learn about their careers, and discover how they can forge their own paths. We had the pleasure of engaging with many attendees, explaining the diverse opportunities available with an optometry degree, and highlighting the positive impact they can have on people’s lives as optometrists.

We would like to thank Auckland Eye for providing complimentary carry bags and pens for the attendees.
